Distinguished District – A Message from our District Director
Recently I received congratulatory messages from Past International President Morag Mathieson, Past Regional Advisor Kaylene Ledger and International Director Monique Tonna, congratulating District 17 for reaching Distinguished Status for the second year in a row.
Last year, the District reached President's Distinguished (Well Done Jeff), and 14th district in the world, out of 128.
This year, we are on target to be at least President's Distinguished, and in the TOP 10 of Districts in the world.
This is a testament of just how much work Club Officers and District Officers are dedicating to the success of our members.
The best in our midst will soon be recognised at the annual District 17 Awards Gala on July 25th from 5.30 for 6 pm. I hope you can join us.
As the end of my term as District Director approaches, I look back on the last three years and I feel proud of everything that the District Officers and Club Officers achieved in supporting our members.
Most Districts around the world are still struggling with bringing quality of service to their members, and while some clubs in District 17 are not as strong as they would like to be, I feel most clubs are now in a good place, and all our clubs are on the verge of excellence. This is largely due to the dedication of both Club Officers and District Officers over the last few years. I would like to thank all of them for their service.
I would like to thank Ian Pickens for his leadership in my first year in District Leadership; I would like to thank Jeff Zhang for his continuing support; and I would like to thank the current leadership team, Maree Pickens, Desmond Miranda, Ange Booker, Robyn Richards, Kala Govindarajoo and all Division Directors, Area Directors and other supporting officers. Without you all, our members would not get the service and the experience they deserve.
I am confident that next year, with Maree Pickens, Desmond Miranda and Souzy Theo leading an amazing team of District Officers, we will be even more excellent.

26 June Update - District 17 is now President's Distinguished (5th in the world, out of 122), with 32 clubs Distinguished.
