Currambine – Greatest Net Increase in Membership!
Currambine Toastmasters has grown considerably this year, and this can be attributed to the club committee and the energy of the members themselves.

Whilst our Vice President of Public Relations (VPPR) is busy sharing photos and updates on our various social media platforms, our Vice President of Membership (VPM) sits on the rush hour Yanchep line, surrounded by commuters, responding to guests who have been inspired by the VPPR’s masterpieces. Often with an elbow in the ribs, or a backpack in the ear, she will be replying to emails straight away, suggesting they pop along to the next meeting.
Come the night of the meetings, committee members arrive half an hour early, and lay in wait for the guests, like a coil ready to spring forth. The Sergeant at Arms sets up the room and once the guests are greeted, the VPM talks them through what the meeting will look like, what to expect, and hands them a membership form to peruse.
One thing the committee stresses, is that this is a safe place to practice speaking. Currambine members do not judge, we don’t dismiss, and most of all… we’ve all been in a similar place.

There is often a light-hearted competitiveness at how many times the word of the day is used (for the record, always deduct 5 from the number of times our Vice President of Education claims he’s used it.) Overall, Currambine has a relaxed and positive vibe. We’ve all been there before – we all make mistakes and forget our words but we’re here to grow and develop our public speaking skills. After the meeting, the VPM asks the guests what they thought about the meeting and advises them how to join, often following up with an email, reminding them of the next meeting date.
#District 17 congratulates Currambine Toastmasters Club for their teamwork, vision and attention to the member experience. The amazing members and hardworking committee has resulted in them achieving the highest net membership growth in the Northern Area of WA growing from 13 members in 2025 to 23 members in 2026!
