Celebrating 20 Years of Jetty Toastmasters
Monday, 15 June, was the night we decided to celebrate our Busselton Club, Jetty Toastmasters’ 20th birthday, opening the meeting to visitors and guests to give an overview of what Toastmasters is all about.

The room was decorated to complement our birthday theme with balloons, Toastmaster posters, and the all-important 20th birthday cake and yummy-looking finger food waiting to be eaten.

Our 30-plus first-timers, special guests, past and present members were given a Taste of Toastmasters throughout the night with a soapbox, table topics, and trips down memory lane.
Our table topics speakers didn’t escape an evaluator (we actually had two), and the ever-present timekeeper made sure we kept to time (I think).
A big thank-you to our special guests – Maree Pickens and Souzy Theophilopoulos from our District 17 Trio and the Hon Barry House, who attended representing the Hon Libby Mettam – Libby is our Local Member for Vasse and is a past member of Jetty.
Members from our fellow clubs in our Area, including Touch of Gold (who were there in spirit), were there to support us, as was our AD and our always helpful Club mentor. A snippet of trivia – Jim Stephen was also present, and he was our first AD.
Thank you to everyone who came to our special 20th.

Who would have thought that having lunch at a café in Northbridge would lead a bunch of like-minded positive thinkers who live “down south” to join an organisation called Toastmasters, and 20 years on, still continue to join an organisation that offers – better listening, better thinking, better speaking – by just doing!
