Technology Toastmasters! D17 welcomes our newest club

The idea behind starting the Technology Toastmasters club came from a simple observation: many professionals working in technology have strong technical skills but limited opportunities to develop communication and leadership abilities. Guru Gupta wanted to create a space where people from the tech community could improve these skills while connecting with like-minded professionals. There was clearly a strong demand for a forum where technical experts could practise public speaking, share ideas, and grow their confidence.
The club naturally attracted members from analytics, engineering, and other technical backgrounds. It quickly became a place where we could talk about technology, innovation, and career growth while also having fun developing our presentation skills.
Gurustarted wtih an idea and early on Douglas joined him to help turn the vision into reality and charter the club.
As word spread, many colleagues and professionals from the technology community began visiting our meetings as guests, recognising the value of combining technical expertise with strong communication skills.
Like any new initiative, there were challenges along the way. Early meetings were held in a larger venue which allowed us to welcome many guests. Later, with limited space, we could only onboard a few new members each fortnight. Despite this, the enthusiasm of the team kept the momentum going.
We successfully chartered the club with 25 members, and I’m confident it will continue to grow well beyond this.
Welcome to the growing D17.

Great to see Toastmasters reaching out and helping other communities
