One Hour. Fifty Students. A Toastmasters Impact.
What can 60 minutes of focused feedback do? Quite a lot.

On 11 September at UWA, 50 students with global perspectives spent the day tackling real-world business challenges. Then came the moment that could make or break their ideas: one hour of pitch training with Toastmasters mentors.
Working in ten teams of five, the students had developed their solutions throughout the day. But turning a good idea into a compelling three-minute pitch required more than a great concept.

Toastmasters mentors Tom Bielski, David Sawyer, Sienna Rae Prameswari and Agata Dharma listened, questioned and challenged each team to sharpen its message.
The feedback was practical and direct: tighten the message, lead with the strongest idea, and make sure the audience understands why it matters.
In just one hour, the teams reworked their pitches. The results were clear when they took the stage. Their three-minute presentations were more focused, confident and engaging.

The event brought together UWA Global Engagement, Venture UWA, the Indonesian Chamber, Singaporean Business Council, Chinese Chamber, Bhutanese Chamber and SavvyWise, alongside Toastmasters mentors who volunteered their expertise.
For Toastmasters, it was a powerful reminder of what happens when we take our communication skills beyond the club meeting.

We don’t just learn to speak better. We help others find their voice.
And sometimes, one hour of the right questions, honest feedback and encouragement can change the way someone presents an idea—and perhaps how they see their own potential.

That is Toastmasters in action.
