Northern Gourmet provides a wonderful environment to grow one’s confidence, public speaking and leadership skills, along with having fun and making friends.
As a longer-term member of Northern Gourmet and someone who has been a member of other clubs over the past eight years, it’s easy for me to say come to Northern Gourmet! I would also say to anyone that it’s important to choose a club that’s a good fit for you!
Over time I’ve had the honour of introducing a few visitors to Toastmasters, some become members and joined Northern Gourmet. At the club, we make a point of not just encouraging learning and growing on one’s chosen Pathway, but also having fun, not to mention choosing which cultural cuisine we’re going to have for any given meeting. The two most popular recent cuisine choices include Chinese and pizzas from our local shops!
Northern Gourmet is a mixed group with people of different ages, cultural backgrounds and life experiences. In recent times it’s been a bit of a struggle to regrow our numbers. Before lockdown we had over 20 and now we’re pleased when all 10 members turn up. With the smaller numbers it means that everyone gets a turn! Visitors are made to feel welcome at our meetings and join our gourmet experience!
It’s always heartening to watch the personal growth of our members, have them contribute and know that they are valued members of the Club.
