Golden Opportunities

Area S34 recently held its International and Evaluation Contests in the vibrant town of Kalgoorlie, showcasing the talent and dedication of Toastmasters from across the region. This exciting event took place over the weekend from February 27 to March 2, 2026 and provided participants and guests with invaluable opportunities to showcase their public speaking skills.

Guests were treated to a variety of tours, including a breathtaking visit to the Superpit Lookout, where they could witness the grandeur of one of the largest open-pit gold mines in the world. The journey to Kalgoorlie was an adventure in itself, as Toastmasters travelled from all corners of the state by train and car convoy, fostering camaraderie and community spirit.

A special thanks goes to the Touch of Gold Toastmasters for their hospitality in arranging accommodations for our Kalgoolie visitors, including Tom Bielski, Mina Cho, Desmond Miranda and Kala Govindarajoo. They also coordinated a delightful dinner club meeting, allowing participants to connect and share experiences in a relaxed setting.

The contests were a resounding success, with outstanding performances from contestants who will now advance to the Southern Division Contest. This prestigious event is set to take place on Saturday, April 18, at the Curtin University Bentley Campus. The weekend in Kalgoorlie not only celebrated Toastmasters’ achievements but also strengthened bonds within the Toastmasters community, creating golden opportunities for growth and connection.
