Farewell to Founding Editor, Jo Parker
As Jo Parker steps down as Editor of Maali News, District 17 would like to express its sincere gratitude for her outstanding contribution to our Toastmasters community.

Since the launch of Maali News in July 2024, Jo has served as its founding editor, transforming a new publication into a valued source of information, inspiration and connection for members across Western Australia.
Jo’s contribution extended far beyond editing. Many members came to know her as our “roving reporter”, regularly visiting clubs, contests, conferences and district events to capture the stories behind the achievements. Whether interviewing members, taking photographs, gathering quotes or ensuring every success was recognised, Jo always worked tirelessly to find the right angle and tell the story well.
Her detailed coverage of contests and events created a lasting record of District 17’s journey, celebrating not only the winners but also the volunteers, leaders and members whose efforts strengthen our organisation every day.
Through her professionalism, dedication, attention to detail and countless volunteer hours, Jo helped connect clubs, showcase member achievements and build a stronger sense of community throughout the District.
As founding editor, Jo has left a lasting legacy. Maali News stands today as a testament to her vision, commitment and belief in the power of sharing our stories.
Thank you, Jo, for everything you have done for District 17. Your work has informed, inspired and connected us, and we are deeply grateful for your service.
Please join us in thanking Jo Parker for her remarkable contribution to District 17. 👏💙
Long after individual contests, meetings and events are forgotten, the stories Jo captured in Maali News will remain part of the history of District 17.
