Currambine – 250 and Counting!
The first meeting of 2026 marked a special milestone for Currambine: reaching our 250th meeting, a quarter of the way to 1,000. Looking back, we were almost flabbergasted at how far we have come. It was truly a phenomenal day worth celebrating.

Reflecting on our journey, we have shared both winning moments and catawampus ones. From the time we proudly came first in Tier 2 of the Stay Strong campaign, to the unforgettable meeting when we arrived only to realise the meeting room key had been left at home. Every experience, big or small, has shaped who we are today.
The milestone meeting was packed with inspirational speeches. Katriona opened the session by sharing her long overdue journey into painting. She finally took the leap, enrolled in classes, and began exploring her creativity. She spoke about her adventures with pastels, her early lessons in colour mixing, and how her teacher guided her to discover her own style. To our delight, she proudly showcased the exquisite paintings she had created. Her speech delivered a powerful reminder that imperfection is the perfect place to start, because in life, you are never truly ready.

Next, Adrian spoke about self-compassion. With great courage, he shared his struggle with generating speech content and his decision to improvise. Although the speech fell short, it was inspiring to witness how far he has grown into a confident speaker who is willing to show vulnerability and keep moving forward.
Ben followed with a speech on becoming the same person, just a better version, as the new year begins. He shared insights from The Miracle Morning and introduced the SAVERS framework: Silence, Affirmations, Visualisation, Exercise, Reading and Scribing. By explaining how he personally implements this framework, Ben delivered his message with authenticity and quiet persuasion, encouraging members to consider trying the approach themselves.
Toastmasters provides a place to improve public speaking, but it offers so much more than that. Through each meeting, we learn from inspiring messages, personal life stories, and the beautiful words speakers use. Consequently, our vocabulary expands, our perspectives broaden and we gain wisdom from one another.
This milestone meeting was a strong kick-off to 2026. It was delightful to see members showing up eager to improve, even though stepping onto the stage still gives us butterflies every time. We show up anyway, learning to calm the tidal waves of nerves and to grow together. There is powerful momentum in personal development when you are surrounded by people who strive to be better.
Our journey continues from 250 and counting, as we look ahead to the next quarter of 1,000 meetings.
