Cheers, Chatter and Fearless Karaoke – Zoom Masters’ End of Year Bash
For a club that usually exists in tidy little rectangles on a screen, the End of Year celebration for Zoom Masters club felt extra special. This time, we were not facing webcams. We were face to face, laughing in real time, and reminding ourselves that human connection really does hit differently in person.

The evening began with pre-drinks at 18 Knots, where city views, easy conversations, and familiar voices set the tone. Seeing Maree, Juliana, Henry, Steve, Bridgette, Murray and Agata without a mute button in sight was a joy in itself. Adding our friends from Kaya Toastmasters club, Santi, Sabrina, Gwen and Ben made it even better. What started as casual catch ups quickly turned into genuine reconnection, something we rarely get when most meetings happen online.
From there, we moved on to the comforting and flavour packed Indonesian feast at Raja Gurih. Over shared plates and generous servings, the conversations flowed easily. Stories of life outside Toastmasters took centre stage. Work adventures, family moments, travel plans, challenges, small wins and the everyday realities that make us who we are. It was refreshing to connect beyond roles and meeting agendas and simply enjoy each other as people.

The night wrapped up at Moon Karaoke, where Toastmasters swapped lecterns for microphones. From Adele’s Hello to Oppa Gangnam Style, voices were belted out with confidence, enthusiasm, and zero concern for perfection. Hidden talents appeared, not so hidden ones were celebrated loudly and laughter filled every pause between songs.

It was a complete night of fun, celebration and thanksgiving. A reminder that while Zoom keeps us connected, being together in person builds something deeper. With full hearts, hoarse voices, and stronger friendships, we are stepping into 2026 feeling connected, grateful, and hoping for many more nights like this, off screen and together.
