Celebrating Courage, Connection and the Power of Voice
At Kaya Toastmasters, we often speak about courage, the courage to stand up, to tell our stories and to share our voice with the world. Recently, our club had the extraordinary privilege of celebrating a moment that embodies exactly that spirit: the launch of our member Santi Sceresini’s first book, Unstuck, coinciding with her milestone 50th birthday.

For many writers, publishing a book is the culmination of years of reflection, courage and persistence. It is the act of turning life’s lessons into something that can guide, inspire and uplift others. A book launch, therefore, is never simply about a book, it is about legacy. As many authors describe it, sharing one’s story is a way of preserving experiences and wisdom so they can inspire future generations and help others navigate their own journeys.
Santi’s achievement resonated deeply with our club community. Toastmasters is, after all, a place where ideas grow into speeches and speeches grow into movements. Seeing one of our own transform her message into a published work filled us with immense pride.
But being Kaya Toastmasters, we could not celebrate in a conventional way.

Instead, our members honoured Santi with something uniquely heartfelt – a playful and spirited skit inspired by her favourite topic: the Five Love Languages. Members stepped into character, bringing humour, warmth and a little theatrical flair to the stage. There were moments of laughter, moments of recognition and above all, moments of genuine affection! Perfectly fitting for a celebration of someone who has given so much encouragement and kindness to our community.
The performance reminded us of what makes Toastmasters so special. Beyond speeches and evaluations, it is a space where friendships are formed, creativity flourishes and people lift one another to new heights.
As Santi turns 50 and launches Unstuck into the world, we celebrate not only the author but the courageous storyteller, mentor and friend we are proud to call a fellow Kaya member.
Congratulations, Santi. Your voice continues to inspire us all.

Being part of Toastmasters, especially my Kaya TM family, has truly been one of the best decisions I’ve made.
Thank you for capturing this moment so beautifully. Your words mean so much to me, and I feel so grateful to be surrounded by such a supportive and inspiring community.
This journey wouldn’t feel the same without all of you. I feel so blessed and grateful.
Thank you and love you everyone…
You are very welcome, Santi. Congratulations on the publication of your book. I found your story inspirational. I’m sure our District 17 Toastmasters community will too.
