DTM Spotlight: Leading by Lifting Others

Congratulations to Mark Richards on achieving the Distinguished Toastmaster award — the highest level of educational achievement in Toastmasters.

This milestone reflects dedication, consistency, and a commitment not only to personal growth, but to supporting others on their journey.

🌟 In Mark's words:

To earn a DTM takes a lot of time and dedication and a lot of speeches, but this DTM, my 4th,  is a special one because it is my 1st DTM in Pathways.

It has been 14 years since my 3rd DTM and that is because I spend my time helping others achieve their goals. This is the reason I stay in Toastmasters, seeing our new members blossom with confidence and stepping up as leaders.

I hope this achievement in my 25th year as a Toastmaster, will inspire others in the District to push themselves further and become a DTM.

The experience is worth every effort.

Can't wait to see you join us as a DTM.

Each DTM story reminds us that the journey doesn’t end with the award — it evolves. Our most experienced members continue to lead by example, showing that growth in Toastmasters is not just personal, but shared. If you’re on the path, keep going — and if you’re just starting, there’s a whole community ready to support you.

The 1% Club: What It Takes to Become a Distinguished Toastmaster

Did you know that fewer than 1% of Toastmasters worldwide achieve the prestigious title of Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) each year?

This elite milestone is not just a badge—it's a testament to leadership, perseverance, and service. DTMs are those who strive higher, work harder, and commit to completing every requirement across multiple paths, projects, and leadership roles.
