Speak Connect Lead: More Than an Open House

What if one evening could change the way someone sees public speaking, leadership and Toastmasters?
The District 17 Open House now has a name: Speak Connect Lead—and it is shaping up to be an evening designed to do exactly that.
On Tuesday, 13 October 2026, Toastmasters members will welcome professionals, community leaders, colleagues and guests to the Swan Room at the Parmelia Hilton Perth for a fresh look at what Toastmasters can offer.

This is not simply a meeting to watch. Guests will experience Toastmasters in action through a taste of a live meeting, with speaking, evaluations and Table Topics, alongside a panel and keynote focused on communication and leadership.
They’ll also discover answers to the questions many potential members have: How does Toastmasters work? What is Pathways? Could Speechcraft help me? How can Toastmasters develop leadership skills? Could I start a club in my workplace or community?
And there’s plenty of opportunity to connect. Drinks, canapés and networking will create space for conversations that could lead to new friendships, new members and even new Toastmasters clubs across WA.
But the most important part happens before the event.

Who will you invite?
A colleague who wants to speak with more confidence. A friend who wants to develop leadership skills. Someone in your workplace or community who could benefit from a Toastmasters club.
Speak. Connect. Lead. The invitation starts with you.

How can you help?
Most importantly, everyone in District 17 can play a part.
You can help by promoting the event through your club, inviting a guest or volunteering with the organising team. There are opportunities to help with marketing, speakers, guest registration, hospitality and event logistics.
